The Milò Method

The choice to use natural fibers comes first from the tactile sensation a fabric can offer, and also from the belief that nature already gives us everything we need to produce responsibly. Virgin and regenerated wools, traditional or plant-based silks combined with organic cotton, hemp, linen, bamboo fabrics and the revolutionary lyocell fiber are the material worlds I love to explore. With constant attention to sustainability, I try to recover every leftover from production, giving new life each time even to a simple fabric scrap, because even the smallest remnant can become a distinctive, unique, unrepeatable detail.

The term literally means “molding,” and it is a technique of three-dimensional fabric shaping directly on the dress form or on the person’s body.

It is a typical haute couture method, developed in the early 1900s, which allows a more direct, free and experimental approach to creating soft, delicate and sometimes unconventional designs that embrace the silhouette gracefully while ensuring a perfect fit.

Every time I create a new project for someone, I build a dress form that is an exact replica of their body, and it is on that form that I will “sculpt” the garment, following natural anatomical lines and adapting the fabric without forcing it. This technique, combined with modern communication tools, also allows me to create garments remotely for those who cannot physically reach my studio.

I chose this approach because it reduces waste, resource consumption and environmental impact, while promoting the value of craftsmanship and traditional skills.
